Thomas McAleer
Thom has a robust background in hospitality management, starting with his role as Vice President of Pursuit Collection in Alaska, where he managed multiple properties and oversaw operations for over 1,400 seasonal employees. Before that, Thom also held leadership roles at Aramark, where he honed his skills in large-scale hospitality and service management.
In 2017, Thom and Jelena made a significant career move by purchasing Cascade Lodge in Lutsen, Minnesota, which they revitalized into a thriving business known for its authentic hospitality and strong ties to the local community. They have since continued to grow their business portfolio, acquiring the Cliff Dweller Hotel and Lutsen Paradise Park, a mixed-use property featuring long-term housing rentals, commercial spaces, and a mobile home park, in addition to developing North Shore Laundry Services.
Beyond his business ventures, Thom is deeply involved in local tourism and recreation. He currently serves as:

• Board Member of the Lutsen-Tofte Tourism Association
• Board Member of Norpine Trail Association
• Member of the Board of Governors for Superior National at Lutsen Golf Course

Jelena McAleer
Jelena is equally accomplished, having started her career in Alaska, where she served as Director of Food and Beverage for the Old Harbor Native Corporation. She also ran her own restaurant consulting business, where she earned several industry awards for excellence in hospitality .
In Minnesota, Jelena has been instrumental in the success of Cascade Lodge, playing a key role in its revitalization. In addition to managing the lodge and acquiring Cliff Dweller on Lake Superior and Lutsen Paradise Park, she co-founded North Shore Laundry in 2022, a commercial laundry service catering to hotels, lodges, and rental properties across Cook County. This venture addressed a crucial need for local businesses and provided stable year-round jobs for the community .
Like Thom, Jelena was also integral to the acquisition of Lutsen Paradise Park, a strategic move that provided much-needed employee housing and expanded their community impact. This property includes long-term rental housing, commercial business and retail spaces, and a mobile home park.
